This plan provides high-speed Internet to your home over your telephone line using DSL technology to enjoy download speeds that are twenty times faster than regular dialup! You can still use your telephone while connected to the Internet.

All modems are easly to install, and are shipped to your home with installation instructions. These modems provide some basic NAT (Network Address Translation) security to shield your commputer from basic attacks. Two line filter devices will be provided. A line filter is necessary for each regular phone or fax connected to the home phone system. This prevents the DSL system from introducting noise to your telephone.

Monthly payments of only $38.88 plus taxes are made through an pre-authorized credit card charge or automatic debit from your bank account for convenience and simplicity. This is not a special introductory price, and will not automatically increase in four to six months.

You must live in an area that has DSL availablity from the local phone company. Call 519 254-5115 during regular business hours to determine availability and to signup or check here. It takes up to a week to provision your telephone line for DSL service, and the easy-to-install modem/router will be shipped to your home.

• Mailboxes @govital.net
  You can access up to five mailboxes, each with a 50 MB size limit, from a Web browser or from a mail reading program that supports POP mail retrieval.
• WebDisk
  You can store up to 50 MB of files in your own disk directory that is accessible over the Web. A simple-to-use interface helps you manage the files. If you upload HTML files, you can create your own personal Web site under the www.govital.net server.
• Basic Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus Filters
  Incoming mail is filtered through a system to eliminate the worst Spam and e-mail viruses. You can also manually block out senders or entire sites through the OpenWebmail interface. These filters cannot filter out all Spam and viruses.
• Usenet News Feed
  You can read articles from thousands of Usenet news groups.
• Dynamic IP Address

The following options can be provisioned separately to make your connection more powerful.

• $99.95 additional: On-site installation. A technician will visit your house and install the router/modem and connect up your computer.
• Access to the authenticated SMTP relay server which allows you to send outgoing mail from a non-govital connection is an extra $4.99 per month. This is useful for travellers who frequent hotspots with mobile computers.
• Monthly bandwidth usage of over 50 GB in a month will be charged at $4.99 per 5 GB.
• $4.99/month additional: Extra 50 MB of disk space for your @govital.net Mailbox and/or Webdisk.

Some additional things to consider

• Dialup telephone number(s) for a regular modem will be provided on request.
• The network services are monitored 24/7, but technical support on this plan is only provided during regular business hours.
• The quality of service from your house to our network centre is dependent upon the quality of your telephone line and equipment. Also, the distance from your home to the CO (central office) may have a role in the connection quality.
• No special software is necessary on your computer. Internet and Ethernet facilities are provided as part of the Apple MacOS or Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 and XP operating system. You may require the original installation disk if you need to install or re-install the networking components.
• Govital does not provide technical support beyond assistance with setting up your network connection, Web browser or standard electronic mail program (e.g. Microsoft Outlook Express).
